Bookstore Couples Photoshoot in South Park, San Diego

Once a year I like to do a photoshoot giveaway on my Instagram. It’s typically a 30-60 minute free photoshoot to a couple or small family. I like to do the giveaway around Christmas and to have the shoot at the beginning of the following year during the slow season. Jess and her husband Christopher were the winners of one of my giveaways and Jess had suggested a location I had yet to explore. South Park, San Diego, specifically a bookstore called The Book Catapult. In the last few years I have become a little bit of a reader, mostly fantasy. And the idea of doing a shoot in a book store just made me giddy! Jess offered to call the bookstore ahead and they said we could shoot there.

I headed down south on a gloomy Sunday afternoon and met up with Jess and Christopher, they kindly bought me my iced matcha at the coffee shop next to The Book Catapult and we began shooting!

I could already tell Jess and Christopher were going to be fun and easy to photograph. When they look at each other, the rest of the world melts away. They just go into their own world together.

We walked over the the bookstore and explored the shelves over the hundreds of books, talking about what we’ve all read, capturing certain poses, playing with different lighting, laughing and enjoying the bookstore.
