Beach Proposal La Jolla, California

One thing about me, you won’t catch me turning down photographing a proposal. Taylor reached out to me back in July 2024 asking if I could photograph his proposal to his girlfriend Josi while they were traveling to San Diego from Canada. Him and I spoke on the phone and I suggested a few beautiful beach spots for him to choose from and we ended up going with a beach in La Jolla, California. La Jolla beaches are nothing short of perfect, the beaches are always clean, never overcrowded, stunning rocks, white sand, etc.

Taylor and I planned to do a little picnic setup for him and Josi and to have it all set up before they arrived at the beach. I went to Trader Joes the day of the shoot and picked up hydrangeas and a bottle of champagne. I grabbed some throw pillows, a blanket, a basket from HomeGoods, and a few other things from around my house and headed down to the beach on a Tuesday afternoon. I set everything up on the beach just a couple hours before the sunset and patiently waited for Taylor and Josi to show up.

Taylor walked Josi up to the set up and got down on his knee and proposed to an excited Josi. She, of course, said yes! After giving them a moment to take it all in, I introduced myself to Josi and they popped open the champagne and sipped that while I photographed the newly engaged couple celebrating.

For the next 30ish minutes I got to photograph Taylor and Josi adoring each other on the perfect sunny afternoon in San Diego. I said goodbye to my new friends as they headed off to Dukes to continue their celebration. And I, being on a high from the proposal, packed up my Jeep and went to Chic-Fil-a.
